Dr Ponyi graduated summa cum laude from the Medical Faculty of Debrecen University in 2001. She then attended the Immunology Program at the Medical School of Debrecen University. Her research topic was the Study of subgroups, pathology and outcomes of idiopathic inflammatory myositis. She received her Ph.D. in 2005. In 2003 she began her practical clinical work at the 2nd Pediatric Medicine Clinic of Semmelweis University, while she currently works at the 2nd Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic as an assistant professor. Within infant and pediatric medicine, Dr Ponyi's main field of interests include rheumatic disorders, arthritis and systemic autoimmune diseases in childhood. Dr Ponyi has taken part in lots of clinical research in these areas. As well as her medical and research work, Dr Ponyi also participates in medical training for students in both Hungarian and English, while she also works as a tutor for people studying to complete their medical specializations. She is a member of the Society of Hungarian Pediatricians, the Association of Hungarian Rheumatologists, the Pediatric Rheumatology Trial Organization and the Pediatric Rheumatology European Association. She regularly attends in the congresses and further training courses organized by these groups.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading and swimming. Dr Ponyi is the happy mother to two boys.
