Ákos Kusnyerik, M.D., Ph.D.

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Kusnyerik was born and raised in Budapest. He earned his medical degree at Semmelweis University in 2001, started his ophthalmology residency at University of Pécs Medical School, Hungary. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Semmelweis University. Afterwards he attained his Hungarian Board Certification in 2006. He took part in the retina implant project with Prof. Eberhart Zrenner’s group and worked in Germany as part of his PhD program. Due to his work Hungary joined to the multicentric research project at Semmelweis University  is artificial retinal implants. The field of Ophthalmology is always changing, in the next decade many advances are expected in certain areas such as vision restoration.

Areas of special interest include comprehensive eye exams, diseases of the orbit. Dr. Kusnyerik is passionate when it comes to educating his patients, because it can be hard to involve people in their eye care. He believes that each patient has specific and unique needs.

Dr. Kusnyerik currently lives in the outskirts of Budapest with his wife and family. When not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, and has a number of hobbies including trekking, cycling and photography.
